Em 1992 dois estudantes de Manchester, Tom Rowlands e Ed Simons, começam a tocar musica house e techno como DJs no clube Naked Under Leather nos fundos de um pub e se intitulavam The Dust Brothers, mas devido a problemas de autoria mudaram o nome para The Chemical Brothers.
Influenciaram o mundo todo com suas paradas de sucessos. Juntamente a outras bandas como The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim e The Crystal Method foram pioneiros do movimento musical britânico big beat.
